GRAND OPENING WEEK EVENTS
Thanks to everyone that make this star studded GRAND OPENING WEEK inside the newly constructed Brennan Rock and Roll Academy a success. The intimate 300 seat concert venue housed some of the greatest legends of Rock and Roll and Comedy for a week of events like Sioux Falls had never seen.
Night Ranger - March 26, 2013
Rock and roll fans also enjoyed an exclusive performance by one of America's favorite rock bands, Night Ranger. Jack Blades and crew not only gave fans the performance of a lifetime, but stayed an extra 4 days, wrote a new song at the academy, and performed a live mini-set on public radio while they were in town.Louie Anderson & George Lopez - March 27, 2013
Comedy fans were treated to an evening with two of the country's brightest comedic minds: George Lopez and Louie Anderson. The pair was joined by Rick Harrison of the hit reality series "Pawn Stars." Anderson, who grew up not far from Sioux Falls in Minnesota, said the academy will help kids that may not otherwise have a safe place to go outside of school. "It's a gamble," he said. "This is the chance you take. You make something like this happen in hopes that one of these kids can fix a lot of the stuff that is wrong with this world."Alice Cooper & All-Star Band - March 28, 2013
If there was one night to see history this was the night. Midwest favorites and BRRA Rock & Roll Ambassador Kory & The Fireflies opened the night to the packed house and things took flight from there.
Alice Cooper was joined on stage by fellow Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Robby Krieger (The Doors), Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), Tommy Thayer & Eric Singer (KISS), Joey Allen (Warrant) and Chuck Garric (Alice Cooper Band). The group ripped through hits from Alice, The Doors, Skid Row and even threw a Rolling Stones tune in for good measure. Fans got a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will never be seen anywhere ever again.
Free Public Open House - March 29, 2013
Literally hundreds of people showed up to check out the Brennan Rock & Roll Academy today. Doors opened to the public at noon with a line of people wrapped around the building waiting to get a look. Oryx, Neo Johnsons, Ramrod Hamster, Rock n’ Roll Damnation and ZZ3 were among the bands that performed starting mid-afternoon and going late into the night.
To top off the day, the Boys and Girls Club signed up 75 kids which increased their population by 20% in one day!
Vince Neil & Stephen Pearcy - March 30, 2013
What was already going to be a blow the roof off rock n roll show turned into mayhem when a surprise guest appearance by KISS frontman Gene Simmons capped the week-long series of grand opening performances. Simmons joined Motley Crue's Vince Neil and RATT's Stephen Pearcy during their show with rock tribute band HAIRBALL Saturday. "That was a night to remember," said founder Chuck Brennan. "Three of my all-time rock heroes were together on the same stage and all donated once in a lifetime packages for the auction that raised over $100,000 in a matter of minutes. Gene even invited four people to his house for dinner and scored $20,000 for the Boys and Girls Clubs."
